Melbourne vlog #1

I finally had the chance to edit/ put together my Melbourne vlog.
I didn't managed to take much photos because I was vlog with my phone ... and I don't have extra hands to take both pictures and vlog at the same time.
I decided to make the video last about 4-5 mins each, that way they upload faster on YouTube.
I left for Melbourne on the 12th of December 2012 and didn't come back to Perth until the 14th December 2012.

My ticket :)

Again, sorry for the poor quality .... I recorded my whole trip using my phone because it was convenient and easy to take with me.
Plus I didnt plan to vlog until I was in the taxi heading to the airport in Perth.

Retail Therapy time!

With exams over and few things popping up, I didn't really have time to go shopping much. So I decided that a day of shopping for myself was needed. So, a few days ago, I decided that retail therapy was needed for just me!

Below are a few things I brought

Since I've started working, I haven't really spent any of my income on myself. So here is a close and more detailed description of what I brought:

Black Flats from K-Mart:
Yes I brought another pair of these again. I brought these pair for $12.

Swisspers Cucumber travel wipes from Priceline.
I brought the travel wipes, just in case I needed to wipe off any messy make-up when I'm on the go.

Hot Option knits: Sleeve slub Henley in Olympic Blue and Black from Target.
I brought this top in 2 colours; Olympic Blue and Black. It was on sale from $20 to $14.
It's super comfy and is great for those hot summers in Perth T___T

Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Liner in Blackest Black from Priceline
As some maybe aware, I brought a Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Liner in my last vlog haul in Charcoal Charbon. I paid full price from that but the downside was that it has bits of glitter in it. So when this was in stock and on sale, I decided to buy it. The colour I got was Blackest Black. And OH MY! it is really black. I brought this one from $16.95 to $10

Revlon Colorstay Lipstick in 295 Satin Rosewood from K-Mart
If some of you havent been aware, this colour and lipstick has been my most adored and favourite lipstick to put on. I've been using this colour for about 5 years now. I don't know what you might think of the colour, but with my tanned skin, this colour just suits me the best. I was running out of my old one, so I needed to buy a new one. It was on sale from $24.95 to $15

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in 030 Smitten and 045 Romantic from Priceline
I was really curious of this balm stain from Revlon. I heard really good reviews on it, along with the lip butters, so I decided to buy this rather than the lip butters. It is similar to the lip butters from Revlon, but has a lip stain effect.  I decided to go with the more darker colors because my skin is tanned and bright colours dont look good on my lips. Cant wait to open them and try them out. I brought the balm stains on sale for 'buy 1 get 1 free' promotion. I got 2 for $17.95 (1 balm stain is already $17.95)

I might do a review on some of the products I brought soon.
Til next time
Take Care xx

Wish I was back in Vietnam for Christmas

I know I havent been blogging as much as I want to, thats because over the past few months/ weeks I've been having a few family problems. Hence why I haven't been using my twitter and blog account much.

Anyways, it's that time of year again. Christmas is coming!!! Time to take out your old Christmas decorations and get presents wrapped for the one's you love.... The weird thing is, my family doesnt celebrate Christmas. And what I mean is, we dont hang Christmas decorations, have a Christmas tree or give/ receive gifts. Christmas in my household is just another ordinary day. I've never really learnt what "Christmas" really means. When people talk about the wonderful adventures their families go to or the fun, loving Christmas dinners they have/ go to, it makes me feel kinds left out.

Maybe its the way my parents were raised that they dont celebrate Christmas. Even when I go to Vietnam, Christmas was mainly based for the children. No had a Christmas tree inside the house, but they did have a small Christmas shrine. Each road block would allocate a spot (within their street block) and build a shire that has little baby Jesus and his parents around with a few farm animals. This was then decorated with flashing lights. They also built one around the Church, but based on the districts.

These are supposed to give the illusions of a rocky cave

This is what they look like (looks better at night when the
display lights are turned on)

What the Church did with the children (for Christmas) was that they would hold a mid-day fair, which was followed by a 7pm concert, which then followed by a 11pm Mass (to welcome the new born King). At the kids fair, they would receive tickets (based on how many times they attended the Church mass and their Sunday School attendance within mid-October to Christmas). These tickets allows them to play the games, which the Priest and his Committee organised.

One of the Christmas concert I went to on Christmas Day (but at night)

During the concert, they would first do a re-enactment of how Christ was born and then it would follow the other random performers (singing and dancing). After all this, a Christmas mass was next.

Christmas in Vietnam was loads of fun. Last year, I helped with wrapping over 200 mini prizes for the Children's fair, 20 large thank-you gifts for each of the performing groups and help cut and stamp all the Children's fair tickets. This was all done in 10 days.

The over committed Girl

As crazy as it seems, I'm at the moment looking for my 4th job.
Some may think that I'm kinda crazy .. right? studying full-time, committing to various charity/ volunteer work, managing my parents business, new employment etc.... where does it end!?!?!

So the jobs I'm at the moment working for are
  • my parents (and occasionally my sister's) business on the weekends and public holidays
  • CPA Australia as their Student Ambassador
(not sure if its consider as work work, but the things I do is work)
  • new employment at the Races as a Sales staff
So it seems I've committed to 3 types of employment, yet it isn't enough. I'm now looking for a 4th employment now. I'm mainly focusing on a job that is more related to my degree, this time around. BUTTT its soooo hard!!! No one wants to employ me because I lack that experience, but where do I get it?!?!

Oh! for those who been following me on Twitter, may have noticed that I have the worst luck this year when it comes to traveling overseas for internships and personal holidays. Let me list what happened and see for yourself, what I mean by bad luck!
  • St. Petersburg/ Russian winter study tour = not enough people going = CANCELLED!
  • Internship to Shanghai = can't go because semester 2 starts mid July and the internship was for 1 month in July = FAILED!
  • Internship to China or Barcelona = clashes with summer school & cost too much =FAILED!
  • Uni study tour around Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia = Not enough income to go = FAILED!
  • Personal holiday to Vietnam = work commitments = FAILED!
as you can see, I got the worst luck this year with going overseas *sobs*

Diary #19: The Naked Truth

Hey Hey my darlings :):):)

Miss me yet?, So I FINALLY found some time to do a blog post and beware it might get UGLY!

First of all, a majority of people my have noticed that I have a new hair style right? Well to tell you the truth; I didn't. It's amazing what kinda of styles you can do with layered hair :P In fact, I never really had a hair cut since I've been back in Perth.

OK, from about 2 or so posts before I mentioned a 'sneak peak' to a new blog entry... Well here it is (SORRY it took so long);

So on March 19th was the Official Launch Party Of the Naked CEO from CPA Australia. As some my know, I'm one of the CPA Student Ambassadors, so I was invited to this exclusive event. I was also allowed to invite a few friends as well.

Diary #9: Strength through experience

Heyy Guys :):):)

So this week has been an inspirational and educational week for me. Because I was given the opportunity to attend the 2011 CPA Congress.

As some of you guys are aware; I was selected to become a CPA Student Ambassador for this semester. And the experience was WORTH WILD :) . I've met some of the most friendliest and interesting people throughout this whole 'journey' and they were even nice enough to share some of their inside stories on how they go to where they are now. :) . Along with meeting new people; I also got to meet a bunch of new faces that were also Student Ambassadors at the other Universities.

Even though being a Student Ambassador I didn't get paid; it gave me the experience that most companies and corporations wouldn't give me (unless I have the experience before hand T__T).

CPA Congress is a 3 day event, which includes talks and participation engagement. This year's theme was 'Journey Through Experience'. Some of the talks I found was really interesting and some not so interesting :S. Attending this event, has really 'opened' my eyes to other career opportunities with the business/ corporate world.

Just a BIG Thank you to CPA for allowing me to be apart of this 'CPA Journey'  :)

So here are some pictures of CPA Congress that I've attended. *NOTE: I only attended Day 1 and 3*

Diary #8: CHOGM 2011

Heyy Guys :)
So during my exam week; I decided to do some volunteering work :) It was a good way to think about something else other than exams :)

The volunteering work I did was 'The People's BBQ' with the Red Cross. It was basically a BIG/ HUGE event located around the Esplanade/ Foreshore. It was supposed to be a farewell BBQ for the Queen who visited Perth which held the 2011 CHOGM.

The BBQ setup at the marquee I was at.

The 120 BBQ's, marquees and cooking supplies were supplied by Bunnings and the 120,000 sausages were supplied by Coles along with the sauces, napkins and bread.

All the profits when to the following charities; Activ, Red Cross, Clontarf Foundation and Legacy.

The day overall was fun yet tiring. I was there from 7am til 2pm. One funny things happened was that none of my group members showed up, so I was put in a group of girls from Coles and they were really fun and great to work with.

One of my highlights was seeing the Queen and meeting some of the world leaders who was here in Perth for CHOGM. I was really surprised that some of them actually joined in the event. It was nice talking to some of them :)

When the BBQ hasn't started ... Looks pretty quiet

There was the annual culture festival too

Winter Warmers

With the cold weather now coming, (for those living in Perth) my ideal winter warmer is; sitting down to a nice cup of green tea under a warm blanket while watching Asian dramas :)

According to about.com, the benefits of drinking green tea is that it is helpful for a few medical conditions such as cancer and high cholesterol levels. It contains powerful anti-oxidants which helps to kill cancer cells without harming healthy tissues. Other benefits of drinking it, according to naturaltherapypages.com is that it;
  • eliminating free radicals within the body
  • helps prevent heart related conditions within the body
  • works to normalize blood pressure levels
  • helps to fight bacteria and viruses
  • helps to detoxify the body
  • can assist in weight loss
  • slows the ageing process
  • helps to strengthen the immune system
Overall, drinking green tea (or any other warm drinks) during winter is a great way to stay warm during the cold winter nights :P

Sizzler's Luncheon

So, I can't believe that I'm going to say this, but its TRUE ... I've even been to Sizzler before *sobs* and Saturday's (25th of June) luncheon was a must go (under 3 good reasons):
  1. It was a small high school gathering.
  2. I've been living in Perth for more than 20 years now, and I really need to explore more (I'm such an idiot)
  3. My primary/ high school friend from Tasmania was visiting :)

So, I'm sorry I didn't take any photos this time, but the overall Sizzler's experience was like a 7 out of 10 for me.

The atmosphere of the place felt like a cozy house, like those Italian restaurants, but without the whole flags and whatnot but more of a nice and calming family feeling.

The food service took longer than expected after you have ordered, and the food kinda disappointed me. I ordered the Grilled Basa, which was nice but a bit over grilled to cut through.

The salad bar on the other hand had a variety of mixed salads and dressing to combine. Along with a soup corner and create your own deserts.

Overall, the whole luncheon was a good idea and a great way to catch up with my Tasmania friend (who left Perth a few years ago) and everyone else who attended :).
