"What happened in the past that was painful has a great deal to do with what we are today, but revisiting this painful past can contribute little or nothing to what we need to do now" by William Glasser.
So this quote was taken from a TV show I like to watch, Criminal Minds. What this quote means, to me, is that what happens in the past, even though it plays a big part of our lives, should stay in the past. Trying to go back to the past has no use, because it is 'yesterday's history' and tomorrow is a new begining.
It also means to move on and head to the future. Even though your past maybe painful, you can learn from what has happened and try to use it was an 'experience' or as a starting point in your life to 'change over to a new leaf'.
Not everyone's past is all the same. Some may link into one another, but in the end its you who has the decision whether to move on or keep living in the past. For those who move on, they show great strength and courage and those who don't, just show great weakness.
In away it kinda relates to relationship break ups. I mean, I know someone who seriously can't get over their ex's. They even can't get over their first ex-boyfriend. Even though they maybe in a relationship with someone else. I think that once you end a relationship, the best thing is to move on and stop living in the past and see it as an experience.
