So last Tuesday, they announced the new Miss Universe 2010. Miss Universe is a competition where each country enters a girl that meets the Miss Universe requirements. They are there to compete against other countries to be crowned Miss Universe.
In this competition, the selected girls go through 4 rounds. The first round is costume. This is where they all show off their countries culture/ history by wearing a costume. It can be a mixed of past history along with the present. From this round, only 15 girls are selected to move on to round 2. In round 2, they are judged on swimwear and how they model in swimwear. From the swimwear round, 10 girls with the highest average get to move on to round 3. Round 3 is evening wear. This is where the girls get to showcase their gowns. From here only 5 girls with the highest points get to enter the final round which is the last question. After each of the 5 girls gets to answer a final question, last year’s Miss Universe crowns the new winner.
And this year’s winner was Miss Mexico. But what does Miss Universe stand for? I mean; I find it ironic that all the contestants are perfectly in shape aka fit and all and that there isn’t someone who is the complete opposite. I mean, if you take two people both with the same variables like age, occupation, life style etc... But just visualise one is skinny and the other one fatter who would you chose? Of course you would choose the skinner girl over the fat girl. But isn’t Miss Universe supposed to be a girl who represents beauty in both the inside and out? And not just on the outside? I think the Miss Universe should be about no matter what you look like in the outside, it’s who you think you are that makes you Miss Universe.
But overall, it was a good television broadcast to see all the way from L.A.
The winner of Miss Universe 2010 .... Miss Mexico
